Fashion // Current favourites

I was searching through my wardrobe this morning and amongst the five year old pyjamas and shoes I've never worn,I found all of my current favourites and arranged them so they're easy to get to.My wardrobes aren't very organised but I do like to have them to hand, a kind of organised chaos.Anyway, these are the bits and bobs that I can't stop wearing at the moment!

I can't get over how much I love this dress! It's so comfortable and I love the cut.I can't often find dresses that fit my shape like this, and the vibrant daisy print only adds to it.I have seen a similar dress in Topshop before but I picked this up in Primark and it was only £13.All of the seams appear very sturdy and the zip at the back makes it look much higher end.Well done Primark!

I was a huge My Little Pony fan when I was growing up,as I'm sure any 80's or 90's child was.I loved the bright colours and it definitely fulfilled some dream that I too could have my own ponies (albeit toy ones.) You're never too old to bring some nostalgia to your clothes though and these socks are so adorable. They were £2.50 and they've kept their colour really well.I'm definitely going to pop in and see what other ranges they offer.I know Primark have a big Marvel range out at the moment,so if you're a big comic book fan now looks like your time.

This photo really doesn't do this ring justice, but my Gran generously gave this to me a few weeks ago. She's always worn so many rings that she jingles when she walks, and I love to hear all of her stories about how she got them.I'm not too sure about the back story or what it's made of but I think it's Ruby and possibly Diamonds.I was thinking of going to a Jewellers to see if they would be able to have a look at it.The stone in the middle shines a deep claret red colour in the sun and the little gems around it sparkle too. It's so beautiful and I love that it's always going to have memories of my Gran attached to it.

Sorry for the wrinkled socks and messy laces,I'm the kind of person that ties up their shoes rushing out of the door and then has to retie them a billion times (I should learn really.) I'm a bit late to the Brogue party,I've seen them around lots before but I never thought to buy a pair.I'm so glad I did! I love how they make any outfit look smart and polished, and these ones from Primark are so comfortable.I picked these up for £12 and I've worn them pretty much every day since.I love to wear them with that red daisy print dress and tights, they're so wearable and go with pretty much anything. I'm still thinking of more ways to wear them though,so I'd love to read any tips or OOTD's you guys have.

So there we go,there are the things I can't be without right now.I've really enjoyed writing a different post, and I think they're might be some more fashion related things on the blog soon.Hopefully I will get used to being in front of the camera!

What are you loving at the moment?

Ebay bargains // Korean BB Cream

I've really been into Korean cosmetics recently.I love how innovative the formulations are,and they have products for every skin type imaginable! After using the sheet masks (which I reviewed here) and being very impressed,I was very excited to try this BB cream from the Korean company,Holika Holika.

If you browse Ebay you'll notice there is no shortage of interesting foreign beauty products and this really caught my eye! Isn't the packaging adorable? I had been looking for a BB cream to wear on those days when I want to wear lighter make up,and with summer coming up I thought it would be the perfect time to buy one.I picked this up for the bargain price of £3.36 from this seller. This is a complete steal because on the Holika website it retails for £7.87.

They have 5 types of BB cream to choose from depending on your skin type.They are;

  • Moisture for dry skin (this is the one I bought)
  • Essential is a multitasking BB cream for all skins
  • Clearing for acne prone skin
  • Watery for combination skin
  • Shimmering for dull or uneven skin tones
Lots of Korean products are aimed towards keeping skin youthful looking,so I'm happy that these contain SPF 30 to keep my skin in good condition. On opening the tube it has a medium consistency and smells lovely and fresh.I think it would be great for anyone with sensitivity to strongly scented products.

On application it looks quite orange, but it sinks wonderfully into my skin and provides light coverage.I've noticed that applying a moisturiser beforehand helps it last longer and stops it from gathering in dry areas.I definitely think this is a contender against the more well known BB creams from Garnier and Loreal.

This was the end result! When I apply this it gives my skin that "my face but better" look that I prefer in the Summer. It leaves a lovely dewy finish and it lasts a good 5 hours too.I like to dust a little powder on top just to set it.You don't need much product for a full face, but when I do eventually run out,I will definitely be repurchasing this.

Do you wear BB creams? What do you think of them?

Car boot market haul

My local market is every Saturday, and it normally gets pretty busy.It sells all kind of knick knacks and it's very popular with the tourists.I don't normally look for too long,as they don't often sell clothes, but I saw that a few people were having car boot sales and I do love searching through and seeing what I can find! I managed to pick up quite a few things,so I think I did quite well.

I love the Aztec trend that appears when it gets warmer, and this cute top is a really subtle and simple way to wear it.It's slightly cropped,so I'm planning on wearing it tucked into a high waisted skirt.I love the little pocket detailing and it's a comfortable fit,so I'm hoping to get quite a lot of wear out of this in the summer. It was originally from Primark so I wasn't expecting to be too expensive, but I was very impressed as it only cost 50p.

I also bought this top for 50p because I mentioned it had a small hole in the back (nothing a needle and thread can't fix!) Also originally from Primark,I think this vest will come in handy when it starts getting warmer (hopefully.) I've been wanting to get this kind of top for a while,so I'm glad I waited.

I picked up this jumper instantly because I'm really into 80's/90' s style clothes at the moment.I wish my Mum had held on to some of her old clothes! This was slightly more expensive at £3,but it is in really good condition and from Topman,so I expected that. It's kind of ironic as I'm not particularly athletic, but I love the vibrant print which really brightens up an otherwise plain item.As it's a man's jumper,it has a very relaxed fit which is great for those lazy days where you still want to look good.I know buying a thick jumper in Spring/Summer is a bit strange, but you never know what the weather is going to do.Also,I do have a habit of stockpiling Winter clothes!

I have seen these in my beloved Primark, and I've always debated on whether or not I should buy it.I don't listen to Guns N' Rose but I really love the design of this vest.Although,Sweet Child O'Mine is a pretty good song! It's got a nice slouchy feel and would like nice with a skirt or leggings and some cute ankle boots.

I was thinking of imposing a spending ban,but seeing as I walked away from there with change from a £10,I don't think that's too bad.Recycling clothes is good for the environment too,so it's a win-win situation.

What's the best thing you've ever bought from a Car boot sale?

Primark & New Look haul

In my previous post,I wrote about how I popped into Exeter yesterday, well this is what I bought!I was pretty impressed with Primark's offerings, there were lots of dresses, which is great for me because I haven't worn a pair of jeans since about 2008! I really admire those girls who wear cute denim shorts and skinny jeans, but they are just not for me.I did find some awesome pieces though!

I had been umming and aahing about this dress for ages,I love the colour and this was the last one in my size,so I thought i'd get it whilst I could. It's perfect for Spring/Summer,but I could also wear it in the Autumn with thick tights and black boots.I think I'm going to get lots of wear out of this. There were lots of other styles on offer and they were all £5,bargain!

This dress really caught me eye! I think it has a touch of Taylor Swift about it,I think I'll try and channel her style by pairing it with some Converse (well, Primark's own Converse.) It's really comfortable and it has sleeves, which is great as you never know what's going to happen with the weather in England. It was reduced to £5 from £8,as were a lot of things,so if you're after some new clothes to update your wardrobe,i'd go soon!

This wasn't from Primark or New Look, but I was so pleased with it that it was definitely worth mentioning! I walked past an "everything £5" clothes shop called Limelite.I debated whether or not to go in because some parts of the shop looked a bit unfinished (maybe they're a new shop?),but I managed to pick up this lovely printed jumper. It's very cosy and feels like it's well made,in Topshop you might pay four times as much for a similar jumper.I'm going to wear it with a little dress and tights for those chilly days.

I've been searching for a travel mug for ages, and this was just what I was looking for! I love everything about it;the polka dots, the cute quote and the gorgeous coral colour. This was £5.99 from New Look, which isn't too bad as it's quite sturdy and should keep my tea nice and warm.

P.S According to their website, if you bring your own mug into Starbucks, they will give you a 25p discount!

I hope you enjoyed my little haul.I was pretty impressed with Primark this time, and I think they're upping their fashion game even more.I do want to branch out a bit more and try shopping around a bit.

What shops would you recommend for cheap-ish and fashion conscious clothing?

Follow me around Exeter!

Today has been a successful day. There was no rain, and Exeter was blissfully quiet. Not to say I don't like crowds,I just like being able to move without being run over by 3 prams and an elderly man.I don't normally go to Exeter,I've always gone to Plymouth, but I fancied a change.People are always telling me how swanky and pretty it is,and I haven't been in years. We got the Park & Ride, which I would recommend as a great way to save money (you park for free and then pay a small bus fare which goes right to the City Centre.)

By the time we got there it was about lunchtime, searching around we saw lots of restaurants like Strada,Carluccios and Ask Italian, but it can get pretty expensive in there.Instead,we decided to head down to Debenhams to their cafe (which is great because I can smell the perfumes on the way!)

I had a Chicken Kebab flatbread which was surprisingly nice. The only experience of kebabs are normally have are of the late night kind! It was also a really reasonable price (£4.99) so I had more money to go shopping! After a sit down admiring the views,I thought I'd go for a wander and take some photos.

If you love history,Exeter is a great place to visit. It has a lot of ruins and old architecture to admire. This used to be an almhouse (a house for the poor) which I believe was built in 1458.It got bombed in 1942 during the war,but It really made me think about what might have happened here.It looks so bleak and ravaged now,but I'm sure it was bustling at one point.

I couldn't leave Exeter without taking a photo of the Cathedral. The carvings are so ornate and beautiful, the size of it really makes you feel small! I thought about going inside but you have to pay £6 per adult which seems quite expensive.Nevertheless,it's a pretty place to visit.Lots of people sit on the green next to it and have picnics in the summer.

This chap caught my eye as I thought he had a look of springtime about him.The flowers add a beautiful pop of colour to an statue I wouldn't normally look at twice.Apparently he was called Richard Hooker, and he was an important priest and theologian in the 16th century, the more you know!

I did actually manage to pick up some bits and bobs, although Primark can always be a bit hit and miss.I didn't spend too much either, which is a bonus! I always go in wanting a specific thing, and then leave with 2 things, none of which I actually went in to get, never mind.I'm going to do a haul tomorrow and show you all of my lovely purchases.

Where do you go when you want to take pretty photos?

A little mini haul

I decided to pop into Plymouth in the hopes of picking up some goodies. There are quite a lot of well stocked charity shops there, as well as every high street shop you could want.It was one of those days where I didn't find much, but I was really happy with what I did pick up.

I always grab the free magazines that Topshop and Boots hand out, they have some great style ideas and they give me something to read whilst I eat lunch. When I can't find any clothes I fancy,I head straight to the accessories, they're a great way to brighten up my outfits without costing too much.

I picked up these really cute socks from Primark for £2. I always end up losing them, but I couldn't pass these up! I love anything to do with Paris and I dreaming of visiting, but until then,I have these. They come in a pack of three, the two others have polka dots and "J'adore" on them.

I can't walk past Topshop without having a quick look.I don't normally buy clothes,as I think they're a little too expensive for me, but I do love their "Freedom" range of jewellery.I was so happy to find a ring to fit me (I have ridiculously small fingers),and it was only £5.I love the pearlescent look of the stone and the ornate detailing really sets it off nicely.

I've been looking for a new book to read recently and this one really stood out to me."A short history of Tractors in Ukrainian" by Marina Lewycka is a comedic novel about families and marriage, which sounds like a nice bit of light reading (despite the title!) I though the little note the previous owner left was so cute, that's something you don't get in Waterstones.I bought this for 25p in my local hospice shop.If anyone lives in or near Plymouth, the City Centre St. Lukes Hospice shop on Cornwall Street is amazing for bargains.Everything is £1 and they sell clothes, books and home-wares,I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking to save money or just love browsing Charity shops like me.

Like I said, this was a pretty small haul, but I'm happy with what I've got and it means I've got more money for next time!

What have you bought recently? I'd love some shopping inspiration.

Forever Autumn OOTD

I must admit I'm not a Spring/Summer person.I hear everybody getting excited about wearing pastels and sunglasses but I can't quite get on board.I try to drag out my Autumn/Winter clothes for as long as possible.Today was sunny but pretty cold so I bought out one of my favourite outfits that I have worn to death.
Dress-£5 from Primark
Utility jacket-£4.50 from Devon Air Ambulance Charity Shop
Leggings-£7 from Peacocks
Boots (in a later picture)-£12 from Primark

Sorry for the awkward stance,I haven't got used to being photographed yet! Burgundy and khaki are two of my favourite colours and I love the contrast between them and my pale skin. It's a really comfortable outfit which definitely helps me feel nicer, there's nothing worse than having to adjust yourself all the time.

I had to be careful when this photo was being taken as it looked a bit like I was flashing someone! Luckily, there was no one around.I love these £5 dresses from Primark because they are great to dress up or down. They're really soft too,and the stitching seems quite well done.I like the flattering cut and I'm a sucker for floral prints on anything.

A quick close up of my jacket.I had been looking for a khaki jacket for a while,so I grabbed this quick when I saw it.It was originally from Dorothy Perkins and I love the huge pockets (I like to take the whole house with me.)I had to roll up the sleeves because of my T-Rex arms, but I like to think this adds to the overall look.

I love these boots! They've definitely been worth their money. They are really comfy, although I've noticed that the sole is starting to come away, that's what I get for buying a cheap pair I suppose! I love the military look of them and they are pretty versatile. Not very exciting, but I really recommend the leggings from Peacocks, they are quite thick and the seams are pretty sturdy.I think they will last a few washes.

It's a pretty simple outfit, but I think that they can be the best sometimes.I don't think fashion needs to be something you overthink! I love getting inspiration from other people though,I see ideas I would never have thought of.

What's your favourite outfit right now?
